Grange over Sands to Cartmel

Grange over Sands to Cartmel returning over Hampsfell. 8.5 miles 1150ft

Thanks Jim for your very enjoyable company today

After leaving the car in Grange we climbed up to the Golf Course

and took the path heading to Cartmel.

Over the brow of the hill Cartmel comes into view

 Zooming in on Cartmel priory

Events were planned here for the Jubilee weekend

On entering the priory we were greeted by a volunteer who gave us a

'potted history'  of the priory.

We then headed for the racecourse for our morning coffee break.

Yesterday we'd have been knocked over here by race horses on the last day of the meeting

Walking back through the village square

The attractive Middlefield beck flows through the village

Two of the local gentry perhaps heading in for the upcoming

celebrations?

Meet Jim, my friend & walking companion today, standing on the

hospice tower after we climbed up Hampsfell 727ft

Looking over the Kent estuary to Arnside & Sandside

The hospice tower

We then descended to Grange promenade

The Lido is still awaiting renovation after many years since it

closed

Finally crossing back over the railway line to our car park
