Skiddaw, Bakestall & the Dash valley

Skiddaw, Bakestall & the Dash valley from Latrigg (Keswick) 11miles 3300ft -

A challenging & exhilarating day on the fells on which, incredibly, I stayed dry all day!

Gaining height on Skiddaw as it comes light after parking at the
Latrigg car park

Looking back down the path to Derwentwater
and the Central Lakeland
fells

Cloud clinging to the tops of the Coledale & Newland fells

Breaks in the cloud over the Vale of Saint John

Looking back to Skiddaw Little Man and Derwentwater as it started
to get windy

Hunkered down in the summit shelter at 3053ft when almost
impossible to stay on my feet!

Overwater and the Cumbrian coast after losing height
and the gale
force wind!

The Northern fells from the summit of Bakestall 2208ft

The way ahead to the Dash valley at the Back'o'Skiddaw

Dead Crags leading up to the Summit of Bakestall

The Dash valley leading up to Skiddaw House & Lonscale Pike

Rainbow on Great Calva at lunch time in front of Skiddaw House

Zooming in on Helvellyn through the Vale of Saint John

Continuing on the upper path through Glenderamackin

A final view of some Autumn colour before arriving back at the car
