Appleby to Barrow - Day 3 - Dacre to Mungrisdale

Leaving Dacre for pastures new like this flock of sheep!

Dacre has a lot of of these very pretty cottages

Beginning a climb up Great Mell fell 537m (1760ft) with Little Mell fell behind

Looking south towards Place Fell, which stands above Ullswater.....

.....and little further west with St Sunday Crag

Great Mell summit cairn, which stands on an ancient burial mound. Blencathra still in cloud behind.

Looking south again

Zooming in on the A66 passing through Troutbeck village

The steep descent passes through this green rectangle previously an army rifle range

Looking east with Clough Head - the most northerly of the Helvellyn range centre left and Skiddaw in clound on the horizon

Looking back to Great Mell fell

Blencathra again, now free of cloud, with Sharp Edge on its right summit.

Wilton Hill farm with Souther fell behind

Enjoying a drink in the Mill Inn having arrived at Mungrisdale.
