Appleby to Barrow - Day 2 - Little Strickland to Dacre

Starting the day in Little Strickland

Looking to Load Pot Hill and High Raise from the Lowther valley

Lunchtime -  looking back to the Cross Fell range above Appleby

Crossing the the old Roman road of High Street with Galaya, the Roman fort of Ambleside, 19 miles and Brocavum - the fort near Penrith 7 miles.

The central fells including Helvellyn range above Ullswater

The north end of Ullwater with Blencathra on the far horizon

Zooming in on Blencathra

Looking south down Ullswater

A flash back to Jan 2016 when the bridge of Pooley Bridge was washed away.....

....and back to today with its replacement.

The River Eamont near Pooley Bridge

A pretty but unnamed tarn near the river side.

Dalemain Hall and Gardens - well worth a visit

Numbers 91 with little plastic coats on!

Dacre Castle. After careful restoration, "a comfortable and extremely desirable residence." http://www.visitcumbria.com/pen/dacre-castle/

I hope their English here is better now.
