Returning to the 'Dales 30'

(Fells over 2000ft in the Yorkshire Dales National Park)

Dodd Fell Hill & Great Knoutberry Hill

10.5miles 2100ft

Heading out of Hawes into Sleddale
After gaining height Raydale comes into view
The summit plateau is soon reached
The summit trig point 2192ft
Zooming in on the unmistakable Ingleborough

I then descended the same way and drove to Newby Head on the Hawes to Dent road to start my 2nd climb to Great Knoutberry  Hill

I parked here at Newby Head and joined the Pennine Bridleway
Climbing up with Pen Y Ghent on the horizon behind
The start of the ridge of Great Knoutberry Hill
Looking along the ridge with Dentdale (L) and Garsdale (R)
Great Knoutberry Hill summit trig point 2205ft
Ingleborough again from the summit
Descending Arten Gill to the Settle to Carlisle railway viaduct
It was a great place to sit for lunch
Stone House hamlet in Dentdale came into view a litte futher down Arten Gill
Passing through the hamlet of Stone House
The river Dee flows through Stone House
I then followed the river upsteam following the 'Dales Way' long distance footpath past Dent Head Viaduct
Arriving back at my car on the on roadside at Newby Head
Once again a lovely day's walking. It's always a delight to walk in the Dales making an enjoyable contrast to the Lakeland scenery.
I now have just 5 summits left of the 'Dales 30'.
