A circuit from Ambleside

including Snarker Pike, Raven Crag, 

Red Srees & Scandale 9.5miles 2650ft 

Setting off through Ambleside

Looking back into Ambleside from the path heading north towards Kirkstone pass

Ahh!

Rydal water with the Scafell range & Western fells

The whole length of Windermere comes into view as I gained height....

Now on the summit of Snarker pike 2113ft....

....followed by the view down to Kirkstone pass from Raven Crag....

....and on to Red Screes summit today's highest point at 2548ft

Looking north to Brotherswater & Place fell...

Still trying to work out what fell I was looking at here!

Sunshine on Middle Dodd

Descending to Scandale pass

My route then continued down Scandale....

....with a view back up the valley to Little Hart crag

High Sweden bridge, well know to walkers doing the Fairfield Horseshoe walk

 Rydal water again as I near Ambleside

Finally back in Ambleside where I was parked outside Mater Amabilis church

A day of contrasts, a lovely ridge walk to the summits, followed by a gentle descent down the valley. 

Cold and breezy on the way up.  Freezing cold wind on summits, lovely warm sunshine all the way down the valley! A great day's walking.
