Ascent of Steeple by the North East ridge:

Part 2 - 11miles 3000ft

A return to Ennerdale today to make a complete circuit of Steeple and Scoat fell starting from the Bowness Knott car park.

The route starts with a beautiful walk along the side of Ennerdale water

After a steep climb through the trees the view opens up back down the valley.....

....whilst ahead there is the ridge leading up to the point of Steeple and on to Scoat fell. Pillar is behind the tree to the left

Pillar again and Little Scoat fell to it's right

Looking back from the ridge after gaining more height....

....whilst ahead the summit of Steeple comes into view with Scoat fell behind

One of the offshoot ridges leading down into Mirk cove

Standing on the summit of Steeple 2687ft with the path to Scoat fell ahead

The whole of Ennerdale water and the Cumbria coast beyond

Pillar and Little Scoat fell above Mirk cove

A cloud capped Great Gable looking a bit like a nuclear explosion!

The Buttermere fells of Red Pike, High Stile & High Crag

Steeple summit from the path to Scoat fell

On the summit of Scoat fell 2759ft looking south over Wasdale to Burnmoor tarn and Harter fell....hope that's not rain approaching

A little further along and just a glimpse of Wastwater came into view

Lunch time view as I decended over Tewit How....

....with a view behind to Steeple

Finally crossing the river Liza back down in the valley
