Semerwater and Wether Hill

Semerwater and Wether Hill - Wensleydale 13miles 2000ft

The last train to arrive at Hawes station. There are no tracks in front or behind and it is now part of the museum and cafe.

Bainbridge village green where I have just got off the minibus,

which is the service bus from Hawes - I was the only passenger!

Looking back to Bainbridge from the path to Semerwater

Raydale with Semerwater just coming into view

Looking down Semerwater

Semerwater is also a nature reserve

The ruined church and graveyard at the hamlet of Stalling Busk

dates from 1772

A last view of Semerwater from the climb to Wether Hill

I followed a section of the Roman road from Ingleton to the

Roman fort at Bainbridge, known as Cam High Road.

Wether Hill summit, which, at 2014ft just makes it into the

'Yorkshire Dales 30' ie. the summits in the Dales over 2000ft

Looking down into Sleddale as I left the summit

On the way back to Hawes I passed the village of Burtersett

How to build a dry stone wall

Finally following Gayle Beck back into Hawes
