After a short plumbing job in Appleby on a wet Monday morning, a lovely afternoon's walk above Ullswater.  5.5 miles 1350ft

Setting off from Pooley Bridge on the path to Arthur's Pike

(topleft)

The path joins a stretch of the old Roman road of High Street, here
going from Galava 19miles (Ambleside) to Brocavum 7miles (Penrith)

After gaining some height, below is Pooley Bridge on Ullswater and
Cross Fell on the distant horizon

A wider view looking north from the top of Arthur's Pike....

....and more of Ullswater looking south

The marina directly below on the west side of the lake

A late lunch by the cairn above Whinny Crag

Waternook house beside Howtown bay below Hallin Fell

Hallin Fell from the today's high point of Bonscale Pike 1718ft

Martindale and Place Fell from the same place

Zooming in on the road climbing over The Hause into Martindale

Approaching the hamlet of Howtown with Pikeawassa behind

A very ancient packhorse bridge next to the path into the hamlet
