Dales High Way - Day 5 - Stainforth to Malham 11.5 miles 1600ft


The day starts along the River Ribble passing Stainforth Force......


...then follows the river passed the placid river above....


....Langcliffe weir....


The path leaves the river for a while....


..before arriving at another weir on the outskirts of Settle

Day 4 - Dales High Way - Ribblehead to Stainforth


Looking back at Ribblehead viaduct from the 'ridge walk' up Ingleborough.....

Sunderland Point - a secluded corner of beautiful Lancashire

A selection of pictures from a walk around Sunderland Point in north-west Lancashire.

The start of the walk from the carpark in the village of Overton




The view across Morecambe Bay to the Furness peninsula. Black Coombe, the most southerly of the Lakeland peaks, is just visible.

Day 3 - Dales High Way - Sedbergh to Ribblehead 13.5miles 2250ft ascent

The Dent Brewery Tap in the village centre (Their ales come highly recommended!)

They've still  got a bank in Dent - well sort of!

Now 3.30pm and this group were ascending Whernside the highest of the "3 Peaks" (735m) having already done Ingleborough and Pen-Y-Ghent today!  

The Settle to Carlisle line just north of the Ribblehead viaduct.


Blea Moor signal box with no activity today as Northern Rail trains are on strike.

The majestic Ribblehead viaduct - with Ingleborough behind shrouded in mist and lying in wait for Day 4.
