HealeyDell (Rochdale)

The Heritage Centre at Healey Dell
Healey Dell sits in a picturesque part of the Spodden Valley on the outskirts of Rochdale. It is rich in wildlife, with a fascinating archaeological history and easy to reach by private or public transport.

The buttercups are very prolific this year

 The 'Cotton Famine Road' on Rooley Moor
 The American Civil War cut off the supply of raw cotton to the Lancashire mill town in the 1860s.
The unemployed mill workers were put to work constructing this road over Rooley Moor.
