 Back to Lakeland!

Bowness Knott to Cogra Moss

via Brown How, Clews Gill, Great Borne & Gavel fell 8.5miles 2750ft

Starting the climb up Bowness Knott from the carpark at the west end of Ennerdale, with a view over the lake to Crag fell

Continuing the climb with the lake still in view

Arriving at the heather clad summit 1093ft....
....and again
Crag fell again
Looking down the south face

A short descent and climb to Brown How summit 1083ft was worth the effort for this view of my next climb up Clews Gill to Great Borne

One of the several waterfalls in the Gill....
....with a view back down from above it....
....and the continuing climb ahead before emerging from the gill....

....and continuing to Great Borne summit 2021ft

Grasmoor and the Newland fells from just below the summit....
.....and the view ahead to Gavel fell...
Arriving at Gavel fell summit 1726ft
The rounded shape of Knock Murton stands just above my next destination of....
Cogra Moss with it's attractive descent to...
....its lake side....
where I had a surprise encounter with a horse and rider!
It's also a popular place for anglers.
It was then just a short walk to the roadside where I'd arranged my lift back to the car.
It's long drive up to North West Cumbria but once in a while
it's certainly worth it for a great day's walking such as this had been.
