A circuit of Derwentwater starting from Keswick
11miles 700ft
Leaving Keswick in an anticlockwise direction the path crosses the river Derwent as it leaves the lake
Passing through Nicol End marina
Heading for the very popular Cat Bells.....
.....but the path continues along the lake side with Blencathra to the north reflected in the lake.
Another well fed Robin!
Passing an alpaca farm
Hawes End ferry landing
The snow capped Skiddaw range
Zooming in on Skiddaw
Continuing down the west side of the lake....
....and again
Looking back to Manesty as the path crosses the southern most part of the lake........and crosses the river Derwent as it enters the lake
The very smart Lodore hotel stands overlooking the southern end of the lake
Cat Bells ridge reflected in the lake
Friars Crag where I stopped for lunch....
.....looking down to Castle Crag with the central fells behind still in cloud
Looking across to Nicol End marina before leaving the lake to return into Keswick....
.....through Hope park
Finally the Moot Hall in Keswick's main street.
A thoroughly enjoyable walk and a complete contrast to last week's exhilerating and strenous walk over the high fells. Nevertheless this proved to be a great day with some wonderful atmospheric views.
