Seathwaite Fell, Rossett Pike & Allen Crags from Seathwaite farm. 10miles 3800ft.

An early start up Seathwaite fell Borrowdale, today's first
objective, England's wettest place, but certainly not today!

Dunmail Raise to the Lodore Falls hotel Derwentwater. 12.5miles 3000ft.

It was a long scenic walk on a gorgeous summer's day ....
.
Looking back to the start on Dunmail Raise from the steep ascent.
Legend has it that the cairn between carriage ways is the burial place of the Cumbrian king, Dunmail.

Looking across the pass to Raise Gill the start of one of the
routes up Helvellyn.

Helm Crag and Grasmere come into view after gaining more height.

The summit cairn on Steel fell 1811ft....

....and the view north from the summit to Thirlmere below

After crossing the summit plateau I came across more work being
done by 'Fix the Fells'on the climb to Greenupedge....

....and I now correct the error in my last mention of them, that
the men working on that occasion were actually paid rangers. However they do have many great volunteers helping as well.

Having arrived on Greenupedge the view opened up to the west to
Fleetwith pike with the Pillar fells in cloud behind

From the summit of Ullscarf 2382ft today's highest point I headed
down to the lovely Dock tarn for lunch....

....where I sat eating my 'butties' and enjoying the warm summer
sunshine

and again

The next climb was up Great Crag only 1460ft but with a great view
to Honister slate mine with Pillar now free of cloud behind

The two summit cairns on Great Crag

After a short descent and a last climb I arrived on Grange fell
summit 1363ft with a view down to Watendlath....

...and Derwentwater with Skiddaw behind and Bassentwaite to the
west

The final stretch dropping down into Borrowdale to the
Lodore Falls
hotel

A pretty tough but exhilarating walk on a perfect summer's day.

After gaining some height, below is Pooley Bridge on Ullswater and
Cross Fell on the distant horizon

A wider view looking north from the top of Arthur's Pike....

....and more of Ullswater looking south

The marina directly below on the west side of the lake

A late lunch by the cairn above Whinny Crag

Waternook house beside Howtown bay below Hallin Fell

Hallin Fell from the today's high point of Bonscale Pike 1718ft

Martindale and Place Fell from the same place

Zooming in on the road climbing over The Hause into Martindale

Approaching the hamlet of Howtown with Pikeawassa behind

A very ancient packhorse bridge next to the path into the hamlet
