Blencathra

Setting off from the village of Threlkeld on the A66

Looking back to Threlkeld as height is gained on Hallsfell ridge

Two of the three summits of Blencathra Hallsfell (R)
Knowe Crag (L)

Zooming in Derwentwater with the Newland fells behind

Reaching the snow line on Hallsfell ridge

Hallsfell summit 868m (2848ft) the highest point on Blencathra

Looking along the summit plateau to Middle Tongue
and Knowe Crag

Sharp edge with 'The Slab & Bad Step' just visible centre left

Zooming in on the little col formed by 'Bad Step' somewhat
dangerous in these conditions....

..Three intrepid walkers top left having crossed it however,
just out of shot bottom right

Looking down to Scales tarn

Another view of Sharp edge from Atkinson Pike
Blencathra's third summit

Blue skies and picturesque snow on the summit belies the icy gale

Looking west to the Skiddaw fells

Descending into the Glenderamackin valley

A last look back to Atkinson Pike

Looking down Comb beck to The A66 Penrith - Keswick Rd

Still blue skies by the White Horse inn at Scales
