Stainmore Gap (Pennine Way)

Sleightholme Beck on Sleightholme Moor before the way descends to the Stainmore Gap, one of the oldest transpennines crossings dating from early bronze age. Now carrying the A66 trunk road Penrith to Scotch Corner.

The start of the Bowes Loop for those needing overnight accommodation in a remote area

Looking across the Gap to the A66

Gods Bridge over the River Greta so named because of its natural formation as the river disappears briefly under a great slab of limestone

Approaching the A66

The underpass was made specially for the Pennine way

Only Half Way!!!!!
