Scafell Pike via Mickledore (ascent) and the Corridor Route (descent)

Lingmell beck, completely dried up in the current heat wave.

A gentle climb (for now) up Lingmell Gill.

Looking back to Waswater, the deepest in Lakeland.

Wasdale Head from the end of the gentle bit!

Our route lead across the screes to the gully
below the high crag, centre left.

Looking back down the steep scree filled gully.

Our first full view of Scafell 964m
(not Scafell Pike where we were heading)

Another look down to Waswater

"As the tourist route is dull,
the Mickledore route is exciting"
(Wainwright) - How true!

A clear view of Lord's Rake and The West Traverse on Scafell.

A very agile Danny conquers the massive summit cairn on
Scafell Pike, the highest point in England!

No need for selfies up here with plenty of willing photographers.

The summit trig point 978m (3209ft).

L to R - Great Gable, Green Gable, Brandreth, above Styhead tarn.

Piers Gill, definitely no way down its bed but a tricky path leads
along its right edge.

Looking back at Piers Gill below Lingmell from the Corridor
Route... our way down.

Lingmell valley leading us back to Wasdale Head

Back at the Wasdale Head Inn -
After a walk to linger long in the memory!
Thanks Danny for your enjoyable company.
