Askham Fell - Cumbria

Setting off from just above Ullswater, near Pooley Bridge.

Ascending Askham Fell (actually more like a moor)

Half a mile to the top of the fell

Pendle Hill

Setting off from the attractive village of Downham

Simon's Seat via the Valley of Desolation - Wharfedale

Setting off near the River Wharfe

Climbing through the Valley of  Desolation so named after the forest here was washed away in a great storm of 1826 - Global Warming?

Emerging onto Barden Fell

Simon's Seat appears on the horizon

Very popular on a crisp, sunny bank holiday
