Abbeystead

Abbeystead is at the confluence of two rivers, the Tarnbrook Wyre (pictured) and the Marshaw Wyre. They meet at Abbeystead and become the River Wyre.

Farleton Fell

Some pics from a return to Farleton Fell...for a special reason..

Farleton Fell (south Cumbria) from the bridge
over the Lancaster Canal

A former lime-kiln on the side of the fell

Looking back towards Morecambe Bay

Looking to Whitbarrow Scar - Heysham power station is just visible in the distance

Mike (pictured here) spent his working life travelling up and down the M6 motorway servicing and installing photo-copiers.
He dream of the the day, when he was retired and could sit on the top of Farleton Fell, with a cup of coffee and wave to the traffic!

His dream has come true!

We were joined at the summit by two trainee teachers

The gorse (broom) is in full bloom

You've heard of the Green-grocer's Apostrophe - well this is the Farmer's Apostrophe!
