Samlesbury & Hoghton Bottoms(!)

Samlesbury Hall on the A59 (Preston to Blackburn road). Samlesbury Hall was the family home of St. John Southworth

The skyline of Preston from Samlesbury. Deepdale stadium (home of Preston North End) can be seen in the distance. The street lights are at Junction 31 of the M6.

 Looking towards Pendle Hill

Another view of the Preston skyline

Ready for some 'mucking-out' at one of the local stables

Some autumn colours on the path to Samlesbury Bottoms.

 More autumn colour

A close-up of the Preston sky-line. The centre of the universe!

The River Darwen at Hoghton Bottoms

 Another view of the River

Weavers' Cottages on the Witton Weavers' Way. They had extra large windows to let in as much natural light as possible.

A weir on the River Darwen. The weir was built so that water from the river could power the local sawmill.

A private residence with its own lake!
