The Roaches

The Roaches are a prominent rocky ridge on the Cheshire side of the Peak District National Park
Setting off from Wincle village by the River Dane

The River Dane with Staffordshire left bank
and Cheshire right bank

Baa Baa Black Sheep.....

The appropriately named Hangingstone Farm

The first destination - Lud's Church - then The Roaches

Lud's Church is actually an impressive chasm
on the side of The Roaches

The less fit start from a car park half way up!

Looking west to the Cheshire Plain with 'The Cloud' (the distant hill) and Congleton beneath it

Some of the rocky outcrops on the ridge

Shutingsloe conical hill on the distant right

Jodrell Bank radio telescope

Looking south along the ridge to Tittesworth reservoir

Back to the car by the River Dane
