The Bridestones (Todmorden)

Centre Vale Park in Todmorden - The start of a walk to the Bridestones

The Bridestones are Grit Stone Tors, formed by a combination of subsurface weathering, freeze-thaw during periglacial times 13,000 years ago and ongoing erosion by wind and rain!
They all have individual names given by the locals and climbers including, Little Brother and Big Sister, The Indian's Head and The Cheese Block.  The one to the left in this picture is the fallen 'Groom' next to the Bridestone herself.

 More of the stones....

 The view across the moor

Some rock climbers testing their skills

They're a bit behind the times in Yorkshire!
