Cross Fell summit trig point at 2,930 ft. This is the highest point on the Pennine Way and the highest fell in England, outside of the Lake District.Cross Fell has the only 'named wind' in Britain, 'The Helm Wind', which can blow for days from the northeast and a local reported it as  "sending Brussels Sprouts ricocheting round my garden like machine-gun bullets"!
