The 'Grand Depart' of the Tour de France passes through the town of Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales. There is no doubting that the town is ready to embrace this 'once-in-a-lifetime' event! One farmer (not this one) has sprayed his sheep yellow for the event!
The residents and traders in Hawes have chosen to decorate the town in white with red spots, the colour of the 'Maillot a Pois'. The Maillot a Pois is the jersey awarded to the 'King of the Mountains'.
Even the Yorkshire ales have caught the Tour de France fever!
Chris Froome, last year's winner is a 'local' lad. His grandmother lives in Harrogate, the destination for the Stage 1.
The 1st stage will pass this picturesque spot - the fishing lake at Kilnsey
