Bare and Morecambe

The seafront at Bare to the north of Morecambe.
(There is a Bare Methodist Church and a Bare Women's Institute!)

Low tide at Morecambe further down the coast

 The beach at Morecambe

Morecambe's famous son - with a young admirer!
 Some rather older admirers!

I wonder if they have 'a little urn'!

An impressive building on the promenade (Maybe a viewer can enlighten me as to what it is - or was.)
The recently restored Midland Hotel - an fine example of 'art deco' architecture

A sculpture of cormorants(?) on the jetty

The lighthouse and cafe at the end of the jetty

  1. My adopted home town. The building you asked about is The Winter Gardens, which was a well known entertainment venue until closure. It hosted many top showbiz names of the time. It is now owned by the Friends of the Winter Gardens who have for many years been trying to restore it to its former grand state. Various events are held within the building. You can have a look in on most Summer Sundays.

  2. A super set of images, I'm very fond of art deco so enjoyed seeing the hotel. Not so keen on Cormorants (being an angler) but they've made an impressive sculpture. Nice to see people still remembering Eric Morecombe. Yes, I've enjoyed these images Anthony.
